About Us
Nourish Pierce County has been serving the community since the mid-1970s and officially incorporated in 1982. We are the largest emergency food system in the county and manage more food distribution sites than any other organization in the state. Nourish provides each client with enough food to prepare three meals a day to last three days each week for every household member. We operate five "brick and mortar" locations strategically placed throughout the county. Additionally, Nourish has two mobile food banks that visit 15 different sites weekly. We depend on the service of 1,000 volunteers annually to help maintain our operations. Nourish Pierce County’s mission is simple - provide nutritious food and support services to those in need with compassion, dignity, and respect. No one in need is turned away.
Our Impact
In 2020, Nourish Pierce County experienced a year of challenges like no other. A global pandemic required us to primarily keep everyone safe and do no harm. This meant that our grocery store model of service changed to a drive-thru/walk-up service model and most of our volunteers had to “stay home/stay healthy.”
Despite unprecedented challenges, Nourish continued to serve and distributed 7.9 million pounds of food through 555,567 client visits. That’s enough food for over 5 million meals! This was only possible because of our amazing community of volunteers, donors, and the Washington State National Guard!
We look forward to when we can all once again shake hands when meeting new friends and hug those we haven’t seen in a long time.
Please consider donating your time so we can continue to fulfil our mission of feeding our neighbors in need.
