COVID-19 Safety Measures and Response
As an essential service, Nourish Pierce County continues to fulfill our mission of providing food for our neighbors in need with compassion, dignity, and respect. The health, safety, and well-being of our clients, staff, and volunteers remains our first priority. Thank you for continuing to volunteer with us in this time of need.
For the safety of those most vulnerable to COVID-19 and its complications, we discourage people who struggle with very physical work, people who have injuries that impact mobility or who have mobility issues, and those with serious underlying medical conditions from volunteering.
Vaccination:
- As of February 16, 2023, Nourish Pierce County highly encourages all volunteers and staff to be fully vaccinated and fully boosted for COVID-19. Vaccination is no longer a requirement to volunteer.
Masks:
- Local Food Bank managers have the discretion to require the use of masks during non-service hours
- All volunteers are required to wear a face mask during Food Bank service hours, while serving.
- If you do not have a face mask, one will be provided for you
- If you are unwilling to wear a mask, or do not wear on properly during Food Bank service hours, or at the request of the Food Bank manager, we will ask you to leave
Hygiene:
- Hand sanitizing stations available at all sites
- All volunteers must wash or sanitize hands
- High-volume surfaces are regularly sanitized
Expectations of Volunteers:
- Volunteers must register online before a shift so we have adequate contact information and knowledge of who is coming
- Volunteers must adhere to all of the safety measures listed above or they will be asked to leave
- You are asked to refrain from volunteering if:
- You feel sick
- You feel that you are more at risk or vulnerable to COVID-19 symptoms
- A family member is sick or you’ve been in contact with some who is sick
- You have had COVID-19 symptoms or been around a sick person within the last 14 days
If you have questions about COVID-19 or other concerns about volunteering, please contact us at volunteer@nourishpc.org or 253-534-8579.
